“I
wonder if maybe it wasn't coincidence that brought me to him that night… Maybe
it was fate that guided me there so I could save him and he could save me…”
Callie and Kayden’s story never fails to give me
goose bumps! Jessica Sorensen gives her books such a real life feel that it
tends to unnerve me as a reader. Though both characters struggled throughout The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden,
the sequel mostly revolves around Kayden after his suicide attempt brings his
darkest secret to light. The Redemption of Callie and Kayden was
a heartbreaking sequel to a haunting tale.
Ashamed
and filled with self-loathing, Kayden believes he’s beyond saving and pushes
Callie away because he’s scared: scared that she’s too good for him and scared
of letting himself finally matter to someone. Callie is hurt and confused by
Kayden’s rejection, wanting to be there for him like he had been for her, she
wants to help him but she’s not sure how. Despite their inner struggles, Callie
and Kayden can’t seem to stay away from each other and are forced into a fierce
game of tug-of-war between what they want and what they believe they can never
have.
As
more secrets they’d rather remain buried slither to the surface, Callie and
Kayden must decide how far they’re willing to go for the love they so
desperately deserve. Lessons will be learned as the couple tries to find out
what makes someone worth saving. In the end, sometimes redemption is a choice you have to
make.
