World After (Penryn End of Days #2) by Susan Ee

4.5 stars!

Summary via Goodreads:

In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what's left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn's sister Paige, thinking she's a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels' secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can't rejoin the angels, can't take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

Review:
“It is painful to see that people prefer a bad guy who looks like an angel to a good guy who looks like a demon.”

I fell in love with Angelfall in the first few pages and was left on the edge of my seat waiting for the sequel. But, when World After finally was released, it felt like it was over way too fast, like it was only half of a book. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great, action-packed half of a book, but still felt unfinished nonetheless.

World After picks up exactly where Angelfall left off, which is a definite bonus because I hate when there’s too much time between books. Raffe is off searching for Beliel, still thinking Penryn is dead, planning on reclaiming his wings and extracting his revenge, leaving him absent for well over half of the book, which was a tad disappointing—I need my Raffe fix. Meanwhile Penryn is left looking for Paige again after they are separated.

Almost dying hasn’t changed Penryn that much, she’s still the sarcastic, kick-ass girl we all know and love as she fights to keep her family together during the apocalypse while the angels are hell bent on destroying the human race. Full of suspense and danger, Susan Ee spins another gripping tale of what it’s like in the World After. I can’t wait for the next book detailing Penryn and Raffe’s next adventure! Unfortunately, the next installment in the series doesn’t even have a title, let alone a release date! So, here I am, stuck on the edge of my seat AGAIN!
